7 Lessons I Learned in Australia

Australia is one of those places which provides travelers unlimited options to complete items on their bucket list. I was able to accomplish ample items on my 2014 bucket list in Australia, while discovering magnificent views that helped me to discover new things about myself. Traveling to one of my dream turquoise destinations while checking off items on my bucket list is a dream come true. I lived the ultimate dream; taking a year off from my job was so rewarding and such a learning experience. If I put my mind to something I can do anything. I learned so much about myself and the world.

Halloween in Australia

Have you ever really, really wanted to experience something? I’ve always craved an exciting, experience-filled life. As a young girl, there were certain milestones that I wanted to reach. I remember just longing to get my period when I was barely a teenager, which I must admit was influenced by my repeated readings of Judy Blume’s Just As Long As We’re Together. There were other things on that list: falling in love, visiting Paris, having my own apartment. In my life so far, I’ve ticked more than a few things off that little-girl-wish-list. And yet, one thing remains: Halloween.

I’ve never been to a Halloween party before. I’ve also never been trick-or-treating. I don’t think I’ve even worn a costume on October 31st. That’s because in Australia, we don’t really celebrate Halloween.

When you really want something, your desires find you and seep into your subconscious.

1. Tower Bridge, London, England

Tower Bridge

One of London’s most recognisable landmarks, Tower Bridge is the star of millions of postcards, t-shirts, bags, and other assorted memorabilia, and no visit to London is complete without a photo on the bridge looking out over the river Thames. Londoners took a while to warm up to the bridge after it was first built, but now it has become a symbol of pride and a reminder of London’s rich Victorian history.

2. Chengyang Bridge, Sanjiang County, China

Chengyang Bridge

The ‘wind and rain’ bridges are feats of architectural brilliance, and all are built without a single nail or bolt to hold them together. Built by the Dong people of China, these covered bridges are beautiful examples of Chinese architecture and are constructed using only stone and wood.

3. Pont du Gard, Gard River, France

Pont du Gard

The Pont du Gard Bridge began life as an aqueduct system that transported water to the Roman city of Nemausus and is a testament to the incredible building skills of the Romans. Built more than 2000 years ago, the Pont du Gard descends only 56 feet over 30 miles and was able to deliver around 5 million gallons of water to the city every day.

4. Rialto Bridge, Venice, Italy

 Rialto Bridge

The Rialto Bridge in Venice, Italy has a unique arched shape and runs over the legendary Grand Canal. Singing gondoliers steer tourists gently beneath the bridge in the city’s famous gondola boats, and the elegant arches and white stones of the bridge make it an attractive addition to one of the most romantic cities on earth.

5. Ponte Vecchio, Florence, Italy

Ponte Vecchio Mos

This medieval bridge spans the Arno River and is one of the most stunning landmarks in Florence. The bridge is full of small shops selling jewellery, leather goods and other luxury items to tourists, and the haphazard way that the shops are stacked on top of each another only adds to the charm and appeal of this unusual marketplace.

Bruce Acacio Shares Top 10 most amazing beaches in the world

Bruce Acacio is also a travel guide who helps vacationers in discovering local attractions and vacation hotspots. In this blog post he shares the top most amazing beaches in the world.

Famed for its vibrant crystalline water and pristine white sand, Baia do Sancho in Brazil has been named the most stunning beach in the world.

Beating off competition From Puerto Rico, the Seychelles, Hawaii and Mexico, the astoundingly pretty bay, which is surrounded by towering cliffs covered by lush vegetation that’s home to exotic wildlife, scooped the top spot.

The Fernando de Noronha, an archipelago with UNESCO world heritage status, came first in the TripAdvisor Traveller Choice Beaches Awards, which placed the paradise-perfect Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos, in second place.

While Flamenco Beach, in Culebra, Puerto Rico, which boasts clear waters and cake-mix-soft golden sands, secured third place in the awards, which are based on reviews and ratings over the past 12 months.

And it wasn’t just beaches far away from home on the list – the UK also managed a place in the top 10, with Rhossili Bay in the Gower, Wales, named as the ninth most amazing beach in the UK. The vast three-mile expanse of white sand moved up one place from last year’s tenth place.

Rhossili Bay’s triumph against beaches in such glamorous destinations as Mexico, Brazil and Australia goes to prove that travellers don’t need to travel half way around the world to find a great beach.
